The obverse of the coin features the Columns of Gediminas and the coats of arms of the lands of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania against a damascened background, surrounded by the inscriptions LIETUVA (LITHUANIA), denomination (50 litas), and the year of issue (2000).

Reverse

The reverse of the coin features a portrait of Vytautas, Grand Duke of Lithuania. The portrait is based on a medal by the sculptor Vytautas Kašuba and is surrounded by the inscriptions VYTAUTAS • D • L • K • 1392 • 1430.
