Lietuvos bankas is an independent institution led by the Board, which determines the central bank’s organisational structure, approves its mission, vision and strategic directions, as well as handles other pressing issues. The Chair of the Board oversees the activities of Lietuvos bankas and serves as its representative in the Republic of Lithuania and abroad without requiring a specific mandate.
In pursuing its objectives, performing its functions, and activities, Lietuvos bankas and its employees remain fully independent. They must neither seek nor take instructions from European Union institutions, Member State governments, or any other entities.
