Bank of Lithuania

Lietuvos bankas is an independent institution that reports regularly to the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania (Seimas), the founder of Lietuvos bankas. As an integral part of the European System of Central Banks, Lietuvos bankas fulfils its objectives and tasks in line with the guidelines and instructions of the European Central Bank.

We uphold the principles of transparency and accountability, essential to modern central banks. By providing clear and timely information on our strategies, assessments, policy decisions, and procedures, we ensure that the public and markets are well-informed.

Within four months after the end of each financial year, we submit the Annual Financial Statements and the Auditor’s Report to the Seimas and make them publicly available. Twice a year, the Chair of the Board of Lietuvos bankas delivers a report to the Seimas detailing the implementation of our primary objective, the situation in the financial market, and the performance of our functions. These reports are also published for public access.

Upon request from the Seimas Committee on Budget and Finance, we provide confidential information on  macroprudential policy implementation to ensure the stability of the financial system. To this end, the Chair of the Board may be invited to committee hearings annually or more frequently during financial crises.

In our Annual Report, we provide an overview of key monetary policy tasks and their implementation, monetary policy operations, activities related to financial market supervision, macroprudential policy and other statutory functions, insights into Lithuania’s macroeconomic situation, and an assessment of the financial health and performance of Lietuvos bankas.
