Lietuvos bankas, the central bank of the Republic of Lithuania, is an independent institution and a member of the Eurosystem, the European System of Central Banks, and the Single Supervisory Mechanism.
Our headquarters are located in the heart of Vilnius, on Gediminas Avenue, with additional branches situated on Žirmūnų and Žalgirio Streets in Vilnius and Maironio Street in Kaunas. Around 700 employees work at Lietuvos bankas.
Lietuvos bankas has the right to establish branches, representative offices, entities, and enterprises and hold shares or stakes in other organisations, both in Lithuania and abroad, as needed to fulfil its functions as a central bank. Additionally, we represent the State of the Republic of Lithuania as the sole shareholder of the Lithuanian Mint, defining and overseeing the State’s expectations for this institution.
Lietuvos bankas belongs, by the right of ownership, to the State of Lithuania. The founder of Lietuvos bankas is the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania (Seimas).
