At the end of December 2010, net external assets (i.e., external assets less external liabilities) of Monetary Financial Institutions (MFIs) turned to positive for the first time since May 2007 and amounted to LTL 1.3 billion. They grew over a month by LTL 2.0 billion. M3 soared over a month by LTL 1.3 billion reaching its highest peak since December 1993. Other MFIs’ lending to residents, excluding MFIs, declined in December by LTL 1.1 billion, while lending in euros accounted at the end of the month made up 70.4 per cent of total loans.
