(joint press release by the Bank of Lithuania and Statistics Lithuania)

According to the Bank of Lithuania and Statistics Lithuania, in Q1 2014 foreign direct investment flow into Lithuania was negative; however, Lithuania’s direct investment abroad was increasing.

It should be noted that the foreign direct investment reviewed in Press Release are calculated by applying the directional principle, i.e. by assessing reverse investments that cover the investment flows (and positions) of direct investment enterprises within a direct investor’s enterprise. For this reason the data differs from the data on direct investment, presented in the Balance of Payments and the International Investment Position; these investments are calculated by applying the assets and liabilities principle. Revised data on direct investment in 2012–2013 will be published in October 2014.

See the Press Release (195.3 KB download icon) for more detailed direct investment data for Q1 2014.

For the breakdown of detailed direct investment data by countries and types of economic activity, see the section Statistics on the Bank of Lithuania's website.
