The Bank of Lithuania and Statistics Lithuania inform that at the end of Q1 2012, compared to both the end of 2011 and as of 31 March 2011, cumulative foreign direct investment (FDI) in Lithuania and Lithuanian direct investment (DI) abroad increased.

Based on provisional data, the FDI flow in Lithuania in Q1 2012 amounted to LTL 1.2 billion (4.6 % of GDP) and, compared to Q4 2011, increased by LTL 891.7 million, i.e. more than 4 times, compared to Q1 2011 – LTL 654.6 million, i.e. more than 2 times. Such a large increase in FDI flow in Lithuania was determined by changes in the flow from other capital: in Q1 2012 it was positive, while in the said periods of 2011, other capital was on the decrease.
