In July 2011, external assets and external liabilities of the Bank of Lithuania contracted by LTL 278.3 million and LTL 130.6 million. At the end of the month these indicators were equal to LTL 16.9 billion and LTL 1.1 billion correspondingly.
Currency in circulation increased on a monthly basis by LTL 234 million, while deposits of residents with the Bank of Lithuania shrank by LTL 355.1 million. At the end of the month currency in circulation and deposits of residents made up LTL 9.2 billion and LTL 4.4 billion respectively. Deposits of residents curtailed due to a LTL 529.5 million shrinkage of central government deposits. However, deposits of other monetary financial institutions (MFIs) grew by LTL 174.5 million. At the end of July central government deposits and deposits of other MFIs amounted to LTL 1.9 billion and LTL 2.4 billion respectively.
