Increased surplus on the balance of current transfers and lower deficit on the foreign trade balance were major drivers behind a 56.6% decrease in the deficit on the current account balance (CAB) of the country’s balance of payments in May 2011. A decrease in the official reserve assets and an increase in the net inflow of foreign direct investment were the major reasons for the positive financial account balance (LTL 319.6 million) on the balance of payments for May this year.

The above data was released by the Statistics Department of the Bank of Lithuania.
