Increased surplus on the balance of services and the balance of current transfers, and decreased deficits on the foreign trade balance and income balance in Q2 2012 led to a surplus of LTL 1.3 billion on the current account of Lithuania’s balance of payments. The current account balance for H1 2012, which showed a deficit, totalled LTL 1.3 billion, a year-on-year drop of LTL 714.4 million. Negative financial account (of LTL –1.8 billion) on the balance of payments in Q2 2012 was the result of net outflows of foreign direct investments (FDIs) portfolio and other investments, which exceeded the positive flow of official reserve assets.

The above data was released by the Statistics Department of the Bank of Lithuania.
