The Baltic digital euro conference “Payments & Policy in a Changing Environment” organised by Eesti Pank in cooperation with Latvijas Banka and Lietuvos bankas will be held at Eesti Pank on 29 September 2025 at 9.30–16.00.

The conference is intended to raise awareness of the digital euro as a public good, and its role in the secure framework strengthening the resilience of Europe’s payment systems in a time of geopolitical and technological uncertainty. The keynote speakers will be Valdis Dombrovskis, European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, and Piero Cipollone from the Executive Board of the European Central Bank. The working language of the conference is English.

The conference will discuss the reasons for developing the digital euro and its strategic relevance, the preparations currently being made by the European Central Bank, and how the digital euro fits into both local and European payment ecosystems. It will also consider the challenges and opportunities for the public and private sectors, the outlook for innovation in the financial sector, and the need to strengthen the resilience of the payment environment to cyber threats in a climate of geopolitical tensions.

The conference will bring together stakeholders from across the public and private sectors, with a particular focus on the Baltic States. Attendees will include national and EU policymakers, Members of the European Parliament, financial intermediaries, fintech companies, and representatives of concerned organisations.
