Today President of the National Bank of Poland Leszek Balcerowicz visited the Bank of Lithuania. He was accompanied by Wojciech Kwasniak, General Inspector of Banking Supervision of the General Inspectorate of Banking Supervision, and Piotr Bednarski, Deputy Director of the On-site Inspection Division of the General Inspectorate of Banking Supervision.
During the meeting, Leszek Balcerowicz and Reinoldijus ?arkinas, Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania, signed an agreement on the co-operation of Banking Supervision.
The aim of the agreement is to strengthen the co-operation of the two competent banking supervision authorities, coordinate their activities, exchange information and establish conditions for effective consolidated banking supervision.
Such agreements have already been concluded with credit institution supervision institutions of Finland, Latvia, Germany, Estonia, Russia and Belarus.
