The change of survey methodology will enable assessing the financial standing of households more precisely

The Board of the Bank of Lithuania changed the statistical survey methodology for the financial standing of households having been issued a loan. This was done with the occurrence of a possibility to obtain additional data from the Residents’ Register Service under the Government and having changed the Loan Risk Database classifier.

This change will enable, considering the borrowing practice applied by banks, to more precisely assess the solvency possibilities and the actual financial standing of borrowers.

To assess the financial standing of households, the Bank of Lithuania currently conducts surveys of households having been issued a housing loan on an annual basis.
