Researchers from different countries discussed international trade at the Bank of Lithuania
This week, the Bank of Lithuania hosted the first invited lecture series of the Baltic central banks and a conference “International Trade Limits”. The event was coorganised by the Bank of Lithuania and Latvian and Estonian national banks. Lectures were given by researchers from different countries.
“In a world currently dominated by economic and political uncertainty and supply chain disruptions, it is important to have a good understanding of the theoretical foundations of international trade, as well as its relationship with economic growth and inequality. This is what we have discussed at this conference,” said PhD Swapnil Singh, one of the organisers and researcher at the Center for Excellence in Finance and Economic Research (CEFER) of the Bank of Lithuania.
During the first two days, researchers from central banks and universities as well as most talented doctoral students listened to Harvard University professor Elhanan Helpman’s lectures.
On Friday, presentations on various topics related to international trade were given by researchers from the central banks of Lithuania, Latvia and France, Vilnius University, Kaunas University of Technology, Queen Mary University of London, Université libre de Bruxelles, University of Namur and the Paris School of Economics.
