New Medium Term Macroeconomic Projections for Lithuania approved
The Board of the Bank of Lithuania approved new Medium Term Macroeconomic Projections of the Bank of Lithuania prepared by the Economics Department. In the near future they will be available on the Bank of Lithuania’s website (64.2 KB download icon).
Sample coins dedicated to Basketball approved
The Board of the Bank of Lithuania approved the sample 50 litas collector (commemorative) gold coin and 1 litas collector (commemorative) circulation coin made of alloy of copper and nickel. Both coins are dedicated to Basketball. The sample coins were minted by the UAB Lithuanian Mint.
The coin is to be launched in the second quarter of 2011. The graphic designs of the coins were created by Liudas Parulskis, the plaster models by Giedrius Paulauskis.
Bjørnar Lund will be able to head AB DnB NORD bank
The Bank of Lithuania received a request from AB DnB NORD regarding permission for Bjørnar Lund to become the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer (President) of the Bank. The Board of the Bank of Lithuania did not object to this appointment.
AB DnB NORD Bank informed that Bjørnar Lund has extensive experience from his different previous managerial positions (the head of the DnB’s Nordic Desk in Singapore, the regional manager of DnB Bank ASA, and the regional manager of the DnB NOR Bank ASA in charge of business banking). He has been the regional manager of DnB NOR Bank ASA in charge of retail banking in Norway since 2009.
Will issue a licence of a payment institution
The Board of the Bank of Lithuania decided to issue a licence of a payment institution to AB Mažeikių butų ūkis, which grants the right to provide the payment service established in Paragraph 6 of Article 5 of the Republic of Lithuania Law on Payments (money transfers).
According to the information provided to the Bank of Lithuania, Mažeikių butųūkis is engaged in the collection of utility and other payments, collection and transfer of fees and payments for heating, water, etc. to the service providers. Moreover, the company provides an additional service of data accumulation and management closely related to the payment service (money transfers), carries out other activities that are not provision of payment services. These include: technical maintenance of blocks of flats and of other buildings, management of the economy of different purpose buildings, renovation and maintenance of the heating economy, installation and maintenance of electrical systems, buildings repair, construction works, etc.
