Lithuania adheres to the highest tier in the International Monetary Fund’s Data Standards Initiatives
Today Lithuania became the sixteenth country that adhered to the IMF’s Special Data Dissemination Standard Plus (SDDS Plus). This is the result of the collective efforts of the Bank of Lithuania, the Ministry of Finance and Statistics Lithuania. In line with the IMF’s goal of improving statistical data accessibility, their quality, transparency and reliability, the Bank of Lithuania coordinates the implementation of the SDDS Plus in the country and is responsible for the application of its requirements with regard to financial sector and the majority of external sector indicators.
The updated National Summary Data Page (NSDP Plus) (Economic and Financial Data for Lithuania) publishes new prescribed data categories: sectoral balance sheets; general government operations; general government total gross debt; other financial corporations survey; financial soundness indicators; coordinated portfolio investment survey; coordinated direct investment survey and currency composition of official foreign exchange reserves.
The NSDP Plus is more user-friendly as it provides links to data in national presentation formats as well as data files in SDMX format.
Data are updated following the data release calendar. Metadata for indicator groups, i.e. information on the content and periodicity of statistical indicators, their collection, compilation, confidentiality, and publication practices in the country, is available on the IMF website.
