Bank of Lithuania
2003-04-07

At the end of March 2003, international reserves made up LTL 9,322.8 million (EUR 2,700.1 million, USD 2,887.5 million). In the course of one month they increased by LTL 948.0 million, i.e. 11.3 per cent.

The main reason behind the increase was the transfer of funds to central government accounts at the Bank of Lithuania from the EUR 400-million ten-year Eurobond placement in international markets.A factor reducing international reserves was the net sale of foreign exchange to commercial banks of LTL 134.0 million and the decline of repurchase transactions with non-residents of LTL 226.3 million.
