At the end of January 2005, international reserves made up LTL 9,343.1 million (EUR 2,706.0 million, USD 3,526.9 million). Over one month they increased by LTL 234.2 million, i.e. 2.6 per cent.

International reserves were increased by higher central government deposits at the Bank of Lithuania (LTL 160.1 million), Bank of Lithuania foreign liabilities (LTL 134.5 million), other net liabilities (LTL 29.0 million) and required reserves of credit institutions and other balances with the Bank of Lithuania (LTL 24.4 million).

International reserves were affected in the opposite direction by the decline of the volume of currency issued by the Bank of Lithuania by LTL 113.8 million.
