A new Internet site of the Bank of Lithuania http://www.lbank.lt has been launched today, providing a wide range of economic and financial information.

The newly designed site features increased information content, technological solutions that ensure convenient surfing for Internet users and a system for e-mail subscription of news and statistical data.

Mr. Kęstutis Vanagas, Head of Public Relations, said: “We consider the Internet site as one of the key communications instruments.In designing it, we attempted to provide useful information to economic and financial experts, the academic community and media and generally everybody interested in the operations of the Bank of Lithuania and the country’s economic and financial situation.”

The site presents the major areas of activities of the Bank of Lithuania and related news releases, Lithuanian banking indicators and analysis.The statistics section contains economic and financial statistics released in accordance with data dissemination standards.The section “Integration into EU” deals with the key BoL activities and participation in relation to the EU integration processes.

In addition, the site publishes legislation regulating the activities of the Bank of Lithuanian and commercial banks, publications of the Bank of Lithuania, information on the Lithuanian currency, the Bank Museum and exhibitions, as well as a number of links to other useful Internet sites.The section “Questions & Answers” provides concise answers to the questions frequently put to BoL experts.

The design of the site was done by the Internet design and programming company “Dizaino kryptis”, while communication and IT solutions were implemented by the experts of the Bank of Lithuania
