The Mint Bureau of Japan and the Mint Sen-yu-kai Foundation is holding the International Coin Design Competition 2002 in order to encourage coin designers from around the world in their creative activities and enhance the artistry of their coin designs.
The competition will be held in two categories: general and student.
The first category is open for persons of any age and nationality. Participants will have to present a sketch coin design. Participation is not limited to professionals, yet it should be noted that participants selected for the final stage will have to present plaster models.
Participation in the second category is open to all university students born on 31 August 1972 or later. The participants will have to present a sketch coin design.
Winners of the competition will be awarded prizes.
Those wishing to participate in the competition should send their designs before 31 August 2002 to the following address: COIN DESIGN COMPETITION 2002, Mint Bureau, Ministry of Finance, Japan, 1-79, Tenma, 1-Chome, Kita-ku, Osaka, 530-0043 JAPAN. (The envelope should be marked in red "DESIGN".)
