The journal Central Banking published in Great Britain and distributed throughout the world published two articles in the recent issue presenting summaries of the reviews of central bank internet sites and general conclusions.
Steve Hanke and Matt Sekerke in the article “A shroud of secrecy” reviewed 144 central bank internet sites and considered Bank of Lithuania site one of the 16 central bank sites meeting all transparency requirements.
Brent Eades in the article “Central banks on the web: why are we there?” asserts that websites of smaller central banks make the best impression in terms of style and content, while the Bank of Lithuania site is singled out as exemplary.
The new site was launched by the Bank of Lithuania in mid-June 2002. The website features extended information content, convenient technological solutions, a system for e-mail subscription to news and statistic data, regularly renewed and varied information.
