At the end of November 2005 money M2 made up LTL 27.0 billion. Over one month it increased by LTL 955.2 million, i.e. 3.7 per cent.
Money M1 grew in one month by LTL 489.0 million (3.4%) and amounted to LTL 15.0 billion at the end of the month. With respect to M1 components, currency in circulation decreased by LTL 14.3 million, while demand deposits in litas increased by LTL 503.3 million. Litas demand deposits of natural persons increased by LTL 108.9 million over a month, while those of non-financial undertakings and other institutions increased by, respectively, LTL 332.9 million and LTL 61.5 million.
Quasi-money grew by LTL 466.2 million in November and amounted to LTL 12.1 billion at the end of the month. Litas time and savings deposits increased by LTL 91.3 million over a month, of which time and savings deposits of natural persons increased by LTL 111.2 million, and such deposits of non-financial undertakings shrank by LTL 20.2 million. Deposits in foreign currencies increased by LTL 374.9 million, of which deposits of natural persons went up by LTL 83.0 million and deposits of non-financial undertakings and other institutions increased by LTL 265.3 million and LTL 26.6 million, respectively.
In November, the main M2 counterparts - net foreign assets and domestic credit - went up as well. Net foreign assets increased by LTL 196.2 million (3.3%), and domestic credit grew by LTL 1.1 billion (4.2%). Net claims on the central government and social insurance funds increased by LTL 222.3 million, while claims on non-banking financial institutions decreased by LTL 70.3 million. Claims on the private sector increased by LTL 885.4 million. Among the latter, the highest increase in November was recorded in respect of the claims on private non-financial undertakings and natural persons, which went up by LTL 498.6 million and LTL 383.5 million, respectively.
