At the end of November 2002 broad money M2 made up LTL 14.5 billion. In the course of one month it increased by LTL 250.1 million, i.e. 1.8 per cent, the annual increase amounting to LTL 2.5 billion, i.e. 21.0 per cent.
Currency in circulation expanded by LTL 92.9 million in November. Litas demand deposits increased by LTL 159.2 million, of which deposits of non-financial private companies and natural persons went up by LTL 78.5 million and LTL 61.2 million, respectively.
Litas time and savings deposits increased by LTL 62.2 million, of which deposits of non-financial public enterprises and natural persons increased by LTL 51.1 million and LTL 51.0 million, respectively, and such deposits of non-financial private companies decreased by LTL 37.9 million. Foreign currency deposits decreased by LTL 64.1 million, of which deposits of non-financial private companies and natural persons went down by LTL 39.3 million and LTL 55.0 million, respectively, and such deposits of non-banking financial institutions increased by LTL 30.6 million.
Net foreign assets went down by LTL 41.3 million, of which foreign assets and foreign liabilities decreased by LTL 104.4 million and LTL 63.0 million, respectively.
Domestic credit increased by LTL 451.0 million, of which net claims on the central government and mandatory social and health insurance funds went up by LTL 190.2 million, while claims on the private sector and non-banking financial institutions rose by LTL 209.0 million and LTL 32.5 million, respectively. The growth of claims on the private sector was determined by the increase of loans to private non-financial companies and natural persons by LTL 161.5 million and LTL 52.2 million, respectively.
