At the end of June 2002 reserve money made up LTL 4,280.8 million.Over one month it went up by LTL 218.8 million, of which currency outside the central bank increased by LTL 269.6 million.An LTL 527.6 million increase in reserve money was determined by anchor currency exchange operations with commercial banks, while operations with the central government and changes in correspondent accounts of commercial banks pushed it down by LTL 296.0 million and LTL 37.9 million, respectively.
Foreign assets went up by LTL 252.3 million, and foreign liabilities declined by LTL 207.6 million.The increase of foreign assets resulted from the purchase of foreign exchange from commercial banks; on the other hand, foreign assets decreased by LTL 196.0 million due to the changes of repo transactions with non-residents.The latter development largely determined the decrease of foreign liabilities as well.Central government deposits in foreign currencies went up by LTL 252.4 million, and declined in litas by LTL 5.6 million.
