Gross external debt – debt liabilities to non-residents at the end of the period. Net external debt – external liabilities (gross external debt) minus external assets (classified as debt instruments) at the end of the period. External debt instruments:  debt securities, loans, currency and deposits, trade credit and advances as well as other debt liabilities to non-residents. Equities and financial derivatives are not included in the gross debt position. Ratio of external debt to GDP is calculated using the quarterly GDP of the latest four quarters (at current prices).

Outstanding amounts at the end of the period – in EUR millions, ratio of outstanding amounts to GDP – in percentages.
