V. Geralavičius: deposits in banks increased for the first time in several days
According to the latest data, the amount of deposits at the operating banks of Lithuania increased for the first time in several days.
Deposits in banks increased by 0.1 per cent. A more significant increase, which made up 0.8 per cent, was observed in deposits of enterprises. Deposits of individuals declined slightly.
“Deposits increased marginally, but the trend is gratifying – none of the banks registered a decline in deposits exceeding usual cyclical fluctuations. All operating banks of the country comply with reserve, capital adequacy and liquidity requirements safely. Balances in the correspondent accounts of some Lithuanian banks increased significantly. Therefore, wise are those bank customers who remain calm and do not lose their accumulated interest”, said Vaidievutis Geralavičius, Member of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania.
Today, the provision of services to AB bankas SNORAS customers was started in three bank branches in Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda. It is expected that a significantly larger number of this bank’s branches will start operating tomorrow.
Today, AB bankas SNORAS temporary administrator will present the information on the bank’s restructuring to the Bank of Lithuania. After the assessment of this information, the Board of the Bank of Lithuania will submit proposals regarding the further operation of AB bankas SNORAS.
