Updated information on urgent issues relating to the changeover to the euro on the website of the Bank of Lithuania
The website of the Bank of Lithuania www.lb.lt has placed a new section “The Introduction of the Euro in Lithuania”, which provides comprehensive and systematised urgent information on Lithuania’s preparation to change over to the single currency of the European Union, euro, in early 2007.
In the new section, you will find information about the conditions of the changeover to the euro and its influence on the national economy and citizens. Information on Lithuania’s compliance with convergence criteria is updated monthly. The Commission for the Coordination of the Adoption of the Euro in the Republic of Lithuania and its working groups are presented, the National Changeover Plan, the draft Law on the Introduction of the Euro in the Republic of Lithuania, articles, utterances and documents pertaining to the euro issue are placed on the website (Euro Library). The history and the present of the euro are briefly discussed, euro banknotes and coins, and the euro area are familiarised with, the answers to the questions asked most frequently by the public are given; moreover, the website visitors are provided with links to help find more information on the euro in Lithuanian and English.
