Unique Campaign: the Lithuanian public is invited to vote on the prices of which goods and services will be monitored during the euro adoption
Statistics Lithuania, the Bank of Lithuania and the Ministry of Finance, together with the media partners, are initiating a unique social campaign — “Feel the pulse of prices”. The public is invited to vote on the prices of which goods and services will be monitored in Lithuania during the euro adoption period.
With Lithuania planning to adopt the euro in 2015, the public mainly has questions on price changes. Seeking to answer them, Statistics Lithuania will record the prices of 100 of the most popular goods and services in selected trade and service centres in Lithuania.
In choosing the goods, the prices of which should be monitored, the public will be able to vote via questionnaires, which are published at the Statistics Lithuania and campaign partner major media — 15min.lt, Alfa.lt, Balsas.lt, Ekonomika.lt, DELFI.lt, LRT.lt — websites. In the questionnaire, the country’s residents will be able to mark the goods and services most important to them. The number of goods and services that can be voted on is unlimited. Voting will take place until April 20. Several regional news portals joined the campaign.
According to the voting results, Statistics Lithuania until 6 May will create a final list of 100 products and announce it to the public. Prices will first be recorded over the month after the final decision of the EU Council regarding the country’s accession to the euro area. Prices will be recorded in 18 cities across the country at almost 1800 locations providing goods and services. The prices of the monitored products, in litas and euro, and their changes will be announced publically on the 9th business day of every month at the end of the reporting month.
