The Bank of Lithuania and Statistics Department under the Government of the Republic of Lithuania committed to compile and provide each other with statistical information, and defined the terms and standards thereof.

This has been foreseen in the agreement on statistical information and data provision, signed today in Vilnius by Reinoldijus Sarkinas, governor of the Bank of Lithuania, and Vilija Lapeniene, acting director general of the Statistical Department under the Government of the Republic of Lithuania.

„Exchange of statistical data between the Bank of Lithuania and Statistics Department and the Government of the Lithuanian Republic has been done for a number of years in accordance with laws of the Republic of Lithuania and EU.

The agreement and eight of its appendices provide detailed regulation for the disclosure and use of statistical information. I believe, this will help us as well as key statistical institutions in Lithuania to ensure more effective exchange of information, to compile and improve already existing statistical data and improve the ways it is delivered to finance experts and statistical data users,“ Sarkinas said.

The ceremony of signing the agreement between the Bank of Lithuania and Statistical Department under the Government was also attended by participants of Prospects for Financial Statistics in 2010, a seminar hosted by the Bank of Lithuania.

The seminar participants were greeted by the management of the Bank of Lithuania and Statistics Department.

The seminar that was organised for the fifth time is designed to discuss financial statistics prospects for the next year. This year, it was attended by 60 representatives of the Bank of Lithuania, Statistics Department under the Government, Finance Ministry, collective investment undertakings, and other institutions that cooperate with the Bank of Lithuania and Statistics Department.
