Today, the Mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) headed by Mr. James Morsink, Deputy Director of the European Department of the IMF, starts its work in Vilnius. It will work until 10 October.

The IMF experts will analyse Lithuania’s macroeconomic situation and general economic development forecasts, assess the situation in the financial sector and the implementation of the budget and social policy measures. The meetings of the Mission’s members are planned with the representatives of the Bank of Lithuania, the Ministry of Finance and other public institutions and the private sector.

Lithuania’s cooperation with the IMF is based on economic consultations under Article IV of the Articles of Agreement of the IMF.

Lithuania is a member of the International Monetary Fund since 1992. Currently, 187 countries are members of the IMF.
