The period of the distribution of 10 litas commemorative coin featuring Vinius (series “Lithuanian Cities”) runs out on 29 September 2003. Under the current arrangements, commemorative coins are distributed for a period of 5 years from the date of issue.
The coin was issued in 1998. It was minted from the alloy of copper and nickel (Cu 75%, Ni 25%), diameter 28.70 mm, weight 13.15 g, inscription on the edge VILNIUS - LIETUVOS SOSTINĖ (Vilnius - the capital of Lithuania). The author of the coin is Algirdas Bosas. The mintage of the coin is 7,500 pieces.
To date, over 96 per cent of the coin mintage have been distributed. The coin can be still obtained at the cash offices of the Bank of Lithuania in Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda.
