The Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania, Vitas Vasiliauskas, on Tuesday in Bratislava met with the Governor of the National bank of Slovakia, Jozef Makúch, to discuss Lithuania's economic indicators, and presented the preparations for the introduction of the euro next year.

The Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania this half-year is meeting with heads of euro area central banks, presenting to them the latest information about Lithuania's economic development and the prospects of euro adoption in the country.

V. Vasiliauskas has already met with the heads of 16 euro area central banks as well as representatives of the European Central Bank and the European Parliament.

The European Central Bank and the European Commission in June are expected to submit an evaluation on whether Lithuania is meeting euro area membership criteria. The final decision on the euro adoption in Lithuania from 2015 is expected to be taken in late July.
