The Bank of Lithuania will cooperate with SoDra in informing the population on the euro adoption
The Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania, Vitas Vasiliauskas, presented to SoDra’s (State Social Insurance Board under the Ministry of Social Security and Labour) Board and territorial division heads the preparations for the 1 January 2015 adoption of the euro in Lithuania, accenting the importance of the cooperation between state institutions in seeking to properly inform the public on the upcoming currency change.
“SoDra’s channels are important in informing as many people as possible about the euro. On their part, in preparing information for its target groups, SoDra will probably be unable to handle everything without our assistance and the assistance of other institutions. It is clear that public servants need to be prepared to answer the questions that disturb the public most, provide clear and detailed information about the euro adoption process”, says Vitas Vasiliauskas.
The National Changeover Plan provides that SoDra, as well as other state institutions and companies, will organise practical training for staff that directly communicates with the public.
SoDra will inform on the euro adoption through the electronic EDAS (e-Servicing System for the Insurers) and EGAS (e-Servicing System for the Public) systems. In addition, it is foreseen that SoDra will inform benefit receivers on relevant issues.
“The choice of pension accumulation options, service receipts, declaration of worker professions, changes in pension calculation — these are the most important innovations that we had to implement this year. Next year an even greater challenge awaits us — preparation for the euro adoption. I am positive that in cooperating with the Bank of Lithuania and other institutions we will be able to smoothly overcome this as well”, says Mindaugas Sinkevičius, Director of SoDra.
Every year SoDras’s Board and territorial division heads discuss the end-year performance and most important activities for the coming year. Such a meeting took place today in the area of Molėtai.
Every person in the country comes directly or indirectly in contact with SoDra. Social security contributions are paid by over 1.35 million residents and 352 thousand employers. Pensions of various kinds are received by over 1 million residents; illness, maternity and paternity benefits, unemployment benefits — by more than 300 thousand residents.
