In March 2015 the Bank of Lithuania’s loans to euro area residents increased by EUR 347.4 million, while debt security holdings, issued by euro area residents, decreased by EUR 74.1 million. At the end of the month these indicators amounted to EUR 590.7 million and EUR 1.3 billion respectively. Currency in circulation declined by EUR 3.0 million over the month to EUR 5.7 billion at the end of the month. In March the loans of other monetary financial institutions (MFIs) to Lithuania’s residents, excluding MFIs, increased by EUR 66.2 million and at the end of the month amounted to EUR 16.5 billion. The deposits of Lithuanian residents, excluding MFIs, in other MFIs increased by EUR 47.4 million and at the end of the month amounted to EUR 16.0 billion. Loans of other MFIs to Lithuanian resident households for consumption and for house purchase increased by EUR 4.3 million and EUR 14.9 million respectively, while loans for other purposes decreased by EUR 2.1 million.
