In February 2015, the Bank of Lithuania’s loans to euro area residents and debt security holdings, issued by euro area residents, decreased respectively by EUR 408.6 million and EUR 30.1 million,  amounting to EUR 243.3 million and EUR 1.4 billion respectively at the end of the month. Currency in circulation declined by EUR 175.2 million over the month, to EUR 5.7 billion at the end of the month. In February, the loans of other monetary financial institutions (MFIs) to Lithuanian residents, excluding MFIs, decreased by EUR 1.2 million and amounted to EUR 16.4 billion at the end of the month. The deposits of Lithuanian residents, excluding MFIs, with other MFIs increased by EUR 86.8 million and amounted to EUR 16.0 billion at the end of the month. Loans of other MFIs to Lithuanian resident households for consumption and other purposes contracted by EUR 1.7 million and EUR 8.7 million respectively, while loans for house purchase increased by EUR 0.5 million.
