Balance of Payments of the Republic of Lithuania, October 2017
Today, the Bank of Lithuania published the balance of payments data for October 2017, which shows that the surplus on the current account balance, which continued to increase and amounted to EUR 305.9 million, was due to a surplus on the primary income balance, resulting from EU subsidies for agriculture. In January–October 2017, the CAB deficit narrowed by 3.4 times year on year as a result of increased surpluses on the balances of services (31%) and secondary income (19.7%), which were not offset by a widening in foreign trade deficit (16.7%).
