The Bank of Lithuania started publishing revised and more comprehensive statistical information on payment instruments.

The purpose of revising the payment instruments statistical information is to meet the increasing demands of domestic and foreign users and comply with the methodological and technical requirements for the payment instruments statistical reporting set by the European System of Central Banks.

The information published was supplemented with new indicators: the number of client service offices, the number of overnight deposit accounts, OTC cash transactions at client service offices and cross-border payments received. The data on payment cards and terminals in the country were supplemented with new categories. The data on transactions processed at ATMs and POS terminals were divided into three groups: transactions by cards issued in the country at terminals in the country, transactions by cards issued outside the country at terminals in the country and transactions by cards issued in the country at terminals outside the country.

The data for the Payment Instruments Statistical Report are currently collected not only from banks and foreign bank branches, but also from the Bank of Lithuania and AB Lietuvos pa?tas. Indicators of the credit unions of Lithuania are assessed on the basis of the research data.

The payment instruments data are published on the website of the Bank of Lithuania under the section Statistics.
