Balance of Payments of the Republic of Lithuania May 2018

Today, the Bank of Lithuania published the balance of payments data for May 2018, which shows that the build-up of the €85 million deficit on the current account balance was driven by the negative balances of foreign trade and primary income that were not offset by the positive balances of services and secondary income. Given that imports of goods grew faster than exports (14.7% and 12.9% respectively), the deficit on the trade balance increased by 28.5% in May.
