A 10 litas denomination coin from the series “Lithuanian Science” will be issued into circulation.
The Board of the Bank of Lithuania decided to declare the 10 litas collectors (commemorative) gold coin from the series “Lithuanian Science” as legal tender and issue it into circulation on 14 September 2012. It will be the first coin from this series.
The coin’s graphic design and plaster model was made by Rytas Jonas Belevičius.
The coins are minted by UAB “Lietuvos monetų kalykla” (Lithuanian Mint). Mintage – 5000 pieces.
The Description of the Coin Design Procedure has been updated.
The Board of the Bank of Lithuania approved an undated Description of the Coin Design Procedure which establishes the coin design procedure in the Bank of Lithuania.
It sets additional coin design stages – creation of the digital relief and test example. As explained in the document, a digital relief is a virtual relief of the coin graphic design in a numerical format complying with technical requirements of the coin mintage. A test example is an implementation of an innovative design and (or) technological solution in metal done according to a sketch, graphic design, plaster model or digital relief.
Changes in the Description were made also because of the fact that the Cash Service took over coin design functions earlier performed by the Cash Department.
