On Monday (November 20), Reinoldijus Sarkinas, Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania (BoL), met with the IMF Mission headed by Patricia Alonso-Gamo, Advisor at the IMF’s European II Department.
This was the last meeting of BoL representatives and the IMF Mission visiting Vilnius with the aim of reviewing the situation and development in Lithuania’s finances, banking and other fields.
During the meeting the BoL representatives once again voiced their unchanged position on taking the decisions concerning the change of the Litas peg from the US dollar to the euro in the second half of 2001. Among other things, the plan to reduce the current commercial bank reserve requirements in the future was also discussed.
