The Board of the Bank of Lithuania does not object to the acquisition by European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) of the qualifying holding in the authorised capital / voting rights AB Bank Citadele. This was the stance of the board unveiled during its meeting on Thursday.

The EBRD informed the Bank of Lithuania of an agreement it signed with the Latvian Privatisation Agency on the acquisition of shares, that will allow the EBRD to acquire 25% plus 1 share in the share capital of AS Citadele bankai n the Republic of Latvia. The 100% of the authorised capital of AB Citadele is owned by AS Citadele banka. Consequently, the EBRD will be considered the owner of the qualifying holding in the authorised capital / voting rights AB Bank Citadele registered in the Republic of Lithuania, which it acquired indirectly. The EBRD asked the Bank of Lithuania to confirm it had no objections to such a deal.
