Raimondas Kuodis appointed as Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania
In accordance with Paragraph 10, Article 84 of the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania, Paragraph 5 of Article 10 of the Republic of Lithuania Law on the Bank of Lithuania and taking into account the nomination by the Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania Vitas Vasiliauskas, today President Dalia Grybauskaitė appointed Mr Raimondas Kuodis as Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania for a term of six years. The Decree becomes effective as of the day of its signature.
Mr Raimondas Kuodis has worked at the Bank of Lithuania since 1996. In the last six years, he was the Director of the Economics Department of the Bank of Lithuania, as well as the member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the European System of Central Banks (ESCB).
Mr Kuodis was born in 1971 in Vilnius. He graduated in economic cybernetics (Vilnius University) and international relations and political science (Institute of International Relations and Political Science, Vilnius University). In 2002, he acquired the doctorate in social sciences (economics).
From 1995 to 1996, Raimondas Kuodis worked at the Ministry Of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania.
At the Bank of Lithuania, initially he worked as Deputy Head of the Macroeconomics and Forecasting Division of the Bank Policy Department, later he was the Head of the Economic Research Centre, the Head of the Macroeconomics and Forecasting Division of the Monetary Policy Department; from 2000 to 2005 Mr. Kuodis was the Deputy Director and then the Director of the Monetary Policy Department. From 2001 to 2004 he also was a Member of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania.
Mr. Raimondas Kuodis actively participates in scientific, educational and social activities, publishes articles in scientific literature and the press. He is a member of the editorial board of the scientific journal of the Bank of Lithuania “Pinigų studijos” (Monetary Studies), member of the boards of the economic education institution “Junior Achievement Lithuania” and “Transparency International” Lithuanian Chapter as well as member of the council of two universities.
The Board of the Bank of Lithuania consists of 5 persons: Chairman, two Deputy Chairmen and two Members.
