President of the ECB congratulated Mr Vitas Vasiliauskas on the occasion of becoming a Member of the General Council of the ECB
Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania participating for the first time at the session of the General Council of the European Central Bank (ECB) in Frankfurt am Main was congratulated by the ECB President Jean Claude Trichet who wished him success in this position.
The ECB is the main cooperation partner in the EU of the Bank of Lithuania, as of other national central banks of the Member States of the European Union (EU). The General Council considers issues related with the macroeconomic situation, functioning of the Exchange-Rate Mechanism II wherein Lithuania participates as well.
Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania together with representatives of commissions of central banks of the EU member states, insurance supervision and securities commissions also participated in Frankfurt am Main at the session of the General Board of the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB) – the EU financial system supervisory body which started functioning this year. Urgent issues of the financial system stability and supervision have been dealt with at this session.
