The presentation of the 5 litas commemorative coin featuring Lithuanian wildlife was held today in the Museum of the Bank of Lithuania. The coin was designed for the international programme "Endangered Wildlife"

The obverse of the coin features the barn owl, and the reverse contains the emblem of the state. The silver coin weighs 28.28 g; its diameter is 38.61 mm. The coin has a mirror surface with mat relief. The edge of the coin bears the inscription LIETUVOS BANKAS. The coin was designed by the sculptor Giedrius Paulauskis. The mintage of the coin is 3 000 pieces (only half of the mintage is distributed in Lithuania), price LTL 90.

The coin is issued in on 26 June 2002.

This is the 32nd commemorative coin issued by the Bank of Lithuania and the first coin featuring nature.
