Having postponed the launch of the e-shop for numismatic items on account of additional work to ensure security, starting in July the Bank of Lithuania will once again provide the possibility to pre-order coins according to the previous procedure.

‘Our aim is for the new e-shop to meet the highest standards; therefore, since work took somewhat longer than expected, the e-shop’s launch has been postponed. The old procedure for ordering items will be effective only temporarily; buyers are already familiar with it, so we expect that this will not cause them inconvenience,’ says Deivis Stankevičius, Director of the Cash Department of the Bank of Lithuania.

The pre-order system that was previously in effect will be functional again on 3 July, 8:00 am. This system can be used to order the following coins that will be issued in the third quarter of this year:

  • silver and copper/nickel alloy collector coins dedicated to the Lithuanian Hound and the Žemaitukas (from the series ‘Lithuanian Nature’);
  • silver collector coin dedicated to the Radvilos Palace (from the series  ‘Lithuanian Palaces and Manors’);
  • BU quality €2 commemorative coin in a numismatic package; dedicated to Vilnius.

As before, half of the total mintage of each coin will be allocated for pre-orders.

Customers will be separately notified when work on the new e-shop is completed and it begins operating, i.e. as soon as the e-shop is ready to launch. This is expected to take place no earlier than the beginning of next year.
