According to the financial statements for 1 July 2003 total assets of operating domestic commercial banks made up LTL 18 billion, increasing over Q2 by LTL 998 million, i.e. 5.9 per cent.

Total loans granted to clients amounted to LTL 8.8 billion, increasing in comparison with 1 April (i.e. Q1) by LTL 548.7 million (6.7%). Deposits totalled LTL 12 billion on 1 July 2003, increasing over the quarter by LTL 504 million (4.4%), of which deposits of individuals made up LTL 7.1 billion, up by LTL 289 (4.3%) over the quarter.

According to the financial statements for 1 July 2003, ten banks and two foreign bank branches earned a profit of LTL 127.1 million, while two foreign bank branches (Kredyt Bank S.A. Vilnius Branch and Nordea Bank Finland Plc Lithuania Branch) incurred a total loss of LTL 2.1 million. The total unaudited result of the banking system in the first half of 2003 was a profit of LTL 125 million. In comparison, during the first half of 2002 the banking system earned a profit of LTL 83.7 million.
