At the end of February 2008, official reserve assets made up LTL 16.1 billion (EUR 4.7 billion or USD 7.1 billion). In February, they decreased by LTL 1.8 billion, i.e. 10.2 percent. Official reserve assets excluding funds received from repo transactions went down by LTL 922.9 million or 5.5 percent.
The decline of official reserve assets was driven by the decrease of central government deposits with the Bank of Lithuania and of external liabilities of the Bank of Lithuania respectively by LTL 985.2 million and LTL 936.7 million. Official reserve assets were also pushed down by a decrease LTL 14.6 million in deposits of other MFIs with the Bank of Lithuania.
Meanwhile, the narrowing of official reserve assets was offset by a rise of LTL 68.8 million in cash in circulation and an increase of LTL 33.3 million in other factors.
