At the end of August 2007, official reserve assets made up LTL 16.8 billion (EUR 4.9 billion or USD 6.7 billion). During one month they grew by LTL 1.9 billion, i.e. by 12.7 per cent.

The increase in official reserves was driven by a jump of LTL 1.5 billion in external liabilities of the Bank of Lithuania. Also, official reserves grew as a result of an increase of currency in circulation and deposits of other MFIs with the Bank of Lithuania respectively by LTL 141.4 million and LTL 138.6 million, as well as a hike of LTL 71.3 million in central government?s deposits with the Bank of Lithuania and a rise of LTL 64.3 million in other factors.
