Bank of Lithuania
2005-06-07

At the end of May 2005 official international reserves made up LTL 9,833.5 million (EUR 2,848.0 million, USD 3,567.3 million). Over one month they increased by LTL 130.0 million, i.e. 1.3 per cent.

International reserves grew due to higher credit institution balances with the Bank of Lithuania (LTL 125.9 million), an increase of the volume of currency issued by the Bank of Lithuania (LTL 65.2 million), an increase of other foreign liabilities of the Bank of Lithuania (LTL 7.1 million) and the net increase of other liabilities of the Bank of Lithuania (LTL 2.6 million).

The factor reducing reserves was the contraction of central government deposits with the Bank of Lithuania by LTL 70.8 million.
