20 litas banknotes of the 2007 issue with renewed security features were issued into circulation.
“On the decision of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania the new 20 litas banknotes are declared legal tender from 11 June 2007 and issued into circulation.20 litas banknotes issued in 1997 and 2001 will remain accepted legal tender as well”, said Mr. Audrius Misevicius, Member of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania.
New 20 litas banknotes have two new security features.
The decision to supplement the reserves of 20 litas banknotes was made in the beginning of summer last year, when the Board of the Bank of Lithuania decided to order 20 litas denomination banknotes of new issue and with improved security features. The banknotes were printed by the German company „Giesecke & Devrient GmbH“.
